Leela Cotton is a family business founded in the early 90's by husband and wife team, Susanne and Kemal Bektas. Associated with the environmental movement for decades, they started looking for ways to produce skin-friendly, child-friendly cotton textiles without chemical additives that are harmful to the environment and health. This search led her to the Izmir area of western Turkey, where Aegean cotton, one of the best and finest cottons in the world, is cultivated according to organic farming criteria.
Since the very beginning, in 1994, Susanne and Kemal Bektas have tried to find trustworthy producers for their Leela Cotton brand who would implement their concept of ecological and sustainably produced children's clothing. Well thought-out design, new material alternatives and innovative production techniques were the focus of a search for new possibilities in textile production.
